Women's Work— a local history campaign.

Show some love for local history and rediscover Arlington.

The goal of the local history marketing campaign was to create awareness about the Arlington Public Library’s services and programs, to elevate the status of the Center for Local History in the community and to educate the residents, workforce and visitors about local history and accomplishments of Arlington women.

Two years in the making, Arlington Public Library presented the stories of women trailblazers and their far-reaching impact on politics, education, business, social activism and public libraries. The curated digital collection spotlights both individuals and groups of Arlington, Virginia women who dedicated their work to improve the lives of others.

The campaign was carried through in an array of printed and digital components, including a logo design, building signage, advertisements, social media, website, posters and an exhibition.

The result was a unique visual style, inspired by the women's suffrage movement in the United States, which was combined with thought-provoking and upbeat messaging to challenge the way we think about history and to spotlight women pioneers. The campaign reaffirms the library's commitment as a cultural institution and educational hub in the Washington metropolitan area.
